I have a system which is a real IP address provided by NIC(VSAT). I want to
setup a mail server on this sys, being an edu organization we are going to
register ac.in domain name with NCST. The thing which has been haunting me
is that whether the mail server I have setup will work out or not.
putting the problem in simple terms.
There are two servers ns1.biet.ac.in (name server)
mail.biet.ac.in (mail server)
How do i configure the name server, so that all the mail is stored on
mail.biet.ac.in which need not be a real internet IP address(or should it be
real??). where should the pop3 server be running?.suppose i have a user on
mail server as [EMAIL PROTECTED], will the name server forward all the mail
to mail server. what about MX records, do i need to deal with them. to be
precise what changes do i have to make to get the server running, currently
i have postfix, pop3 server running.
i tried to send mail to myself from my yahoo account at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
where xx.yy.zz.kk is the ip addr of the name server(pop is also running on
name server). It returned relay access denied. what is wrong with this. how
do i get the server to accept mails with ip address also.
thanks
