The System.map will contain info about your new kernel, its module
dependencies, drivers etc. You can find the new system.map in your
/usr/src/linux directory after compilation,
you can copy the old system.map for back up sake
cp -f /boot/System.map /
then copy the new one it its place
cp -f /usr/src/System.map /boot
-shyam
