BTW, Is the modem going off-hook ? You must get OK for the AT commands
that you're typing.
Also ensure that you're dialing with the appropriate type - tone/pulse.
ATDT1234 for dialing 1234 in Tone
ATDP1234 for dialing 1234 in Pulse.
