Hi Use kill -9 or killall from another console or telnet session(OK SSH too...) This reminds me. Yesterday X froze on my company machine. That's quiet regular. Happens twice a month. So I ssh into the machine from other machine as root and tried to kill all processes. What I found that all programs won't shut thmself if I kill startx. I have to literally go on hunting and kill each program manually. How can this be? I thought when a parent process is killed, a child is killed too..
