it is exactly why we're trying to think of the local miror option.
within the VSNL backbone, speeds can b comfortably in the range of
5k-10k, especialy with the (recent) backbone upliftment and availability
of faster modems for home-use.

the mirors are not goin to b distro-mirrors (at least in the initial
stages). they wil b mirors of comonly used packages,
RPM's/debs/tarballs, etc.

it would b a dedicated work to do, althou i'm sure we'll get volunteers
for this too. frankly enuf, i think it'll b more work than seting up a
miror and doin an update at regular intervals which can b done by a smal
group of volunteers, and they need not b physicaly present to do so. for
creating CD-ROM's on request, this wil hav to be done.

nice idea, but with the speed of the updates, the CD wil b "old" too
soon.

mirrors are not a solution to the problem, but just another viable
option. it has its own overdues too, but those which can b manged by
proper co-ordination.
