Just compiling the alsa driver isn't enough. You have to load the module
into the kernel using modprobe.
go to your /lib/modules/-version-/misc/ directory, and then do a
modprobe i810_audio (for i810 motherboards).
you can also modify /etc/conf.modules as given in the Readme file that comes
with alsa-driver.THat way, the module will be automatically loaded at
startup.
Then run aumix/xmms/kmpg or whatever. Do inform me what mp3 player you use,
and how it fares in your system?
