Depending on how you configure the machines, BSD can be more or less 
secure.
Please go to http://www.securityfocus.com and search there for bug 
reports on [Free|Open|Net]BSD and from [*]Linux
Then search the same site for a comparitive rating question on the 
default security of operating systems.

I remember only the final answer from that discussion:
"The security of any system is only as good as its administrator"

(You can make a hardened NT firewall, and an insecure OpenBSD machine 
-- each takes an equal amount of work, the BSD machine probably less ;)
