 havent used anything but rh yet, and neither have i used lprng. So the
comments are toatally unauthorative

try printing a postscript some printers like 640c cannot print texts


fire it up with
gs -dNOPAUSE -sOtputFile=/dev/lp0 -sDEVICE=cdj550 <your test file>

you can try out a couple of other drivers like deskjet, hpdj ie anything
which has a "dj" in it to see which gives you the best result. Use "gs -h"
to get the list of drivers.  I looked up the hp page which says the
printer understands pcl3, so any of the "dj" drivers should work.

once this works the rest can be forced by checking up on the filter you
are using i.e the "if" entry in your printcap file.
