Download the sources (tar.gz). Why are you going for .deb files
for sources ? It is very easy to compile mutt. Just download the
mutt.tar.gz file and follow the instructions in INSTALL file.

I have compiled it without any problems. Also applied the
compressed folder support patch. Go through the archieves for
further info. It was discussed just I think around 2 weeks back.
