I am also a newbie to Debian. The point what u made may be
correct. I have just removed mutt which I had installed from .deb
( apt-get remove mutt ) and then compiled the tar.gz of
mutt-1.3.15 and hence forth I can just apply the patches and
upgrade my version of mutt :-)
