Your BIOS will *definitely* NOT support the 20GB HDD. But dont despair.
There are disk managers available for all models of HDDs today. These are DDOs
(Dynamic Drive Overlays) that map the HDD to the BIOS using a piece of code
which is loaded before anything else (obviously from the HDD itself). I have a
P-200 MHz and it doesnt support anything over 4 GB, but I use 8.4 GB. Just goto
the site for your HDD manufacturer and search for DDO or DM or Disk Manager. I
have installed DMs for Samsung, Seagate etc. and they are readily available
from their own sites for free.
Just remembr never to issue fdisk /mbr (from DOS) or you'll have to
reinstall the DM. For Linux, it adjusts autmoatically to the DDO and as you'll
observe, it even tells you that a DDO (with version no) is installed on your
HDD. After that it will never use the DDO, but use its own native DDOs. Thus
Linux rocks. And there is no speed losses also. This software is the ONLY
solution for running a 20GB HDD on your vintage PC.
