I don't know. But AFAICT, the dumb client has to boot from something, a floppy
or boot rom. So it will boot in some OS. IIRC, I used netware like that with
286, in college. And it was good....

Since it's 286/XT(As you suggested), all it can run only dos and hence can't do
anything useful.

All I want to say is 286 is not a useful diskless node.
