Yes you can,

You dont need any proxy server if your setup is, Linux box connected to
internet and windows pc's will access through Linux with a kind of firewall
setup also;)
You can use ipfwadm. It was in old version of Linux and now ipchains and
using that you can very easily do that. read ipfwadm or ipchains how-to.

internet, I remember an old pc-quest article to do it without squid.

I want to connect to the internet using a linux box and access the internet
