Hello Jiger,
What has happened is that you started X-windows as a user. and kppp
which is running as root needs to use the user X-windows interface. you
will face this problem even if you open an xterm, su to root and try to
run gvim or for that matter any gui application as root. Now I am not
very sure of what I am about to tell you and worse of all I can't try it
out coz i am on an nt m/c in office.

1) to allow other aplications to use the X-windows which user has
started, open a console and as the user, enter the command "xhost +"
then set an environment variable DISPLAY with the command
"set DISPLAY=.0:0"

2) now do su to root

3) to tell the root shell which display to use, type the foll command as
root
   "export DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0
   now type kppp

please wait and see if any one corrects any mistakes i may have made
:o(, but i think i got the idea right. do a man xhost for more help.

optimistically,
mario
