 There is one thing though - in a ppp connection, the slower modem of the two
 determine connect speeds.

 Of course, throughput is likely to be a bit higher when he dials into his
 office linux box rather than when he dials into a local ISP. 

 Still not up to DSL / leased line speeds, though.
