Yes, the speed is determined by the slower modem, but my guess is that he
will really get speed imprvements becasue the office network after office
hours would be free and he would be the only user on the server. At least
throughput is quite good when i connect to my friends pc from my pc for
exchanging some files and fun. Though that also depends how far away he
stays from the office, i.e. how many local exchanges will his call go
through. Ideally if both of them are on the same exchange level there should
be pretty good speed. Not like DSL but still something like 5-6k i guess. I
get around 2 to 3.5 on Satyam. ( and this is one of the better ones at
chandigarh) don't know about ISPs in other cities though
