I fail to see how this is going to help. If you are
using ssh then u are already connected to the
internet, presumably via the local ISP. That is what
the original poster wanted to avoid in the first
place. 

In short the answer is no, you can not take advantage
of the high speed internet connection to speed your
local conenction if you have only a modem.
