> /usr/sbin/strings /var/log/ftp will give u the list of the complete
> hostnames from where the connections were made.
$ last will do the trick (or last -a - as the hostname seems to be getting
trimmed here)
> bas1-159.idf8.... is part of the host name from where the connection was
> made. do a nslookup on the hostname .. should give u the IP address i.e if
> it is real IP
part of a real +hostname+ at least. Likely his server rDNS'd the guy's IP.
