you just load both the sound drivers... I use ALSA (dunno if it's possible
with the OSS ones)

Advantages... when I'm talking to someone on speakfreely... The "cuckoo"
from an incoming ICQ message or a beep from a biff will not interfere with
my conversation! And I can have some background music while chatting away!

(Actually the main reason I resorted to this was because the sound card
drivers on my old machine wasn't full duplex ... so I decided to buy
another card ... so that way even if the drivers didn't work I could
achieve full duplex with 2 half duplex cards!)

I don't know about windows I have disabled one of my cards in the hardware
profile.. no use of 2 sound cards when all you do is play games!! :o)

do you use an accelerated X server with your trident card or the standard
SVGA one ?

Maybe some of the i81x users can tell you about X acceleration in i81x.

You don't really need a sound card to listen to audio CDs !! just plug ur
speakers into the CD-ROM drive!! ;-)
