Hi All,
Its been two months that I am trying to prepare
linux on a floppy.I am going for kernel on one floppy
and rootfile system on the second floppy. My problem is
that after inserting the second floppy when I get the
login prompt and I enter the username as root and
press enter the screen respawns i.e it again asks for
username. To eliminate this I got a suggestion to use
'tinylogin' instead of /bin/login .Tinylogin is a good
concise utility available at lineo. Now after using
this tinylogin I am atleast getting the password
prompt after entering the username as root. Now as soon
as I enter the root password it flashes an error as
login[45]:invalid password for 'UNKNOWN'on tty1.This
problem is bothering me since last two weeks and I am
stuck over it.I have both /etc/password and
/etc/shadow files.I have also tried it by removing the
/etc/password and /etc/shadow files it gives the same
error which means it(login or tinylogin) is not
reading the these files at all.My etc directory
structure is like this........
pam.conf nsswitch.conf rc.d password
shadow ld.so.cache issue wtmp
hosts login.defs syslog.conf
termcap inittab securetty
profile HOSTNAME pwdb.conf

I am using redhat 6.2 .If someone can send me the
total installation process of tinylogin that may also
be helpfull as it is not available since I doubt that
too.
Please suggest me wether to use login or tinylogin.
Please help me out and suggest me what to do.As I told
you I am stuck. Thanks in advance.
Satya
