Don't know if this will work, but if you know your partition table
information, in Linux fdisk, write the table by hand, start-end
cylinders, filesystem type, etc.
I did an installation this way: 13G HDD with 2G win primary and the
rest win extended with logicals. I moved all the data on last logical
to earlier ones. Then I deleted the extended in Linux fdisk and
recreated it by giving end cylinder as start cylinder of the last
logical. Then I gave start-end cylinders of all the remaining
logicals. Proceeded to install Linux in the free space that was the
last logical. Went off without a hitch.
Assuming the partition table still shows start-end cylinders, or that
you know them, you may be able to directly specify the filesystems in
fdisk.
