I have been using icewm for last one year. No problems. It is excellent besides being
lightweight. Currently it is in version 1.0.8-6. The new version 1.0.9 is
due for release. I always compile icewm on my machine. It is very easy. In case
u decide to go for icewm and face any problems feel free to ask.

xfce, Suresh might be able to tell u more. He was using xfce. I don't know whether he
still uses it.
