Yes, there are several options. The bottom line is going to
get your dialin right. Use mgetty  or  agetty to respond to
incoming calls. Look up mgetty docs ... it is large, but it
would be rewarding. The process would probably require more
than what can fit a mail ... a HDI perhaps.

Once connected, the simper options are:

a) You can do a hyperterminal type of link  with the use of 
   minicom or seyon at both ends.
   
b) One of you set up a BBS (I can send  you a  small one in
   bash itself).

Don't know any ready made references. Need to write a full
HDI for it ... will take some time.

Sub : Whatis database                                LOST #078

Wondering what all those binaries in /bin, /sbin, /usr/bin and
other binary directories do ? As root create a whatis database
for your system with "makewhatis" command as root. Then  as an 
user type in "whatis some_program". "man whatis" for details.
