Sridhar,

I don't think there's any device called /dev/eth0. The kernel maintains 
interfaces like eth0, IIRC. I'm using RHL 7.1 and my /dev has no eth0 entry 
either.

[root@localhost vinu]# find / -name eth0
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/eth0
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/eth0
[root@localhost vinu]#
