This is a distro-specific quirk. Dileep had pointed this
out to me very recently... If you manually edit the file
/etc/hostname, and place "farzaan" then it should be
adequate, but for some reason RH meddles with this. In
BSD systems (Slack/ freebsd) there is no /etc/sysconfig/
Other Sys-V distros like debian has no such problems.
Incidentally, just check if you have Linuxconf daemon in
the background. Disable Linuxconf and see if it happens.
Something is surely wrong somewhere.
