the kernel sources which shipped with RH7.1/PCQL7.1 are buggy and won't compile. you are better of downloading a new one from kernel.org (better wait till 2.4.13 is released... 2.4.12 has some bugs with the parallel port stuff) Read the kernel compilation howto for more details.
