Check another dealer. Preferably - get a technician from a rival shop and have him check your machine before your own eyes. The technicians from shops are usually competent, honest and underpaid people. Approach one personally - your money will go directly to him. Once a lizard got into the cabinet of my machine and pissed on the ram chip. Luckily the thing didn't short - failed at the init sys ram test. The whole machine was torn apart, parts cleaned, checked and reinstalled. Cost = 400 bucks. And as for the SMPS, you should be able to find a replacement for this exorbitant piece. I don't think there would be anything hardcoded about the voltages the SMPS supplied to the chip or mobo. :-) Try Eagle. I have used one for quite some time now.
