Hi everybody,

I am having a Compaq Proliant 400 server with a 4GB SCSI hard disk and 62MB
RAM. I am trying to load RedHat7.1 on it. I have done the following things:

1> booted the machine from a dos boot floppy and ran fdisk on the hard
diak to creat two 2GB partitions.
2> I have marked the first partition as active and have made it bootable
(with format /s)
3> tried to load Linux by starting the machine with the first CD in the CD
drive

I am getting the following error:

VFS: Cannot open root device "" on 08:41
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic : VFS: unable to mount root fs on 08:41

Any help please !!!!

Goutam
