Try "downgrading" your following rpms from the RH6.2 CDs

       compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.14
       compat-libstdc++-6.2-2.9.0.14
       compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2
       compat-egcs-c++-6.2-1.1.2.14
       compat-libs-6.2-3

then the installation procedure is same & smooth...

I haven't tried this... don't know what other programs depend on your
current rpms.... So, try it at your own risk...

Else visit

for detailed info...

Digressing a little from the original thread, but has anyone on
this list managed to get Oracle 8i/9i to actually work with Redhat 7.1 or
7.2.?
