For emacs key-habits and a very stable emacsish editor with-
out elisp support ... zile ... single binary 300 k ! Or even
e3 in emacs mode (e3em) just 10k single binary !

The full of emacs is not an editor. It is a full OS ! What
is it that it cannot do ?

To change the message which greets you before the login prompt
appears, as root, edit the file /etc/motd ... FYI, motd stands
for Message Of The Day !
