Further, using open relays that you dont have legitimate access to is
[1] Theft of service
[2] Against yahoo (or other provider's) terms of service
[3] Against your ISP's terms of service
You are liable to use one or more of your (ISP / email) accounts if you try
that sort of thing.

The wc util is specifically for this purpose. For this file:
o wc 143.lost reveals : lines words bytes filename
12 57 428 143.lost
o wc -L filname ... reveals the length of the longest line
