Have you actually tried starting up Redhat ?? |Have you tried a distribution called Debian ? Install only the base |packages and get back. For me the machine is up at the shell prompt in |under 30 seconds. Pray list out what are these extra services that redhat is starting up that takes 2.5-3.5 minutes more than your system ??? This is the lamest reason I have seen for asking anyone to switch to a different distro. Brijesh, it's most probably a hardware issue... look at the output of "dmesg" ... you'll probably see a few lines about ACPI ... passing a parameter at boot time acpi=noidle or something like that should solve your problem (this is a fairly common problem with i810 mobos) |btw; Linux, the kernel is mistakenly referred as GNU the OS.
