Sometime on Jan 30, Farhan Ahmed assembled some asciibets to say: > How do I know what device points to my mouse? During xf86config, I > select the default '/dev/mouse' . I have a feeling that it is not > correct! How do I probe my mouse?
You can't probe the mouse unless you know where it is connected. Fortunately, this involves looking behind the case - as you've already done. > My mouse came along with my assembled PC and it doesnt belong to any > big company. Is that any generic protocol which I can use? It has > three buttons and it connects to the CPU with a round connector (it > that is of any help!). Yes, this is a big help. A round connector means a PS/2 mouse. Serial mice generally have a 9 pin D connector. You want to either make /dev/mouse a symlink to /dev/psaux or set your mouse device to /dev/psaux when it asks you in Xconfig.... -- Karl's version of Parkinson's Law: Work expands to exceed the time alloted it. _______________________________________________ linux-india-help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help
