Before configuring under X, try determining what type of mouse you have 1) If it has a 9 pin D connector, it is a serial mouse 2) If it has a 25 pin D , then it is parallel/serial mouse 3) If it plugs directly into the motherboard then, it has to be configured differently. 4) If it is round , may be it is a ps/2 mouse These are the 4 different species of mice I have come accross. Each has to be configured independenly. Serial mice are usually on ttySx x being your com ports (on dos) ps/2 mice can be captured ! on /dev/psaux Support for mice on the motherboard have to be built into the kernel, refer to the kernel sources for more info Now, make sure that the symlink /dev/mouse is pointing to the right device, you can try the mouse config at prompt and then convince proceed to test your protocols -shyam n Wed, 30 Jan 2002, Farhan Ahmed wrote:
