Those apps are running with only linux and wine ... no M$FT stuff ...
Netscape 6.0 also works... as do quite a few games and other small apps...
someone on the BLUG list also managed to get Tally to work under
linux+wine without a windows installation.

While wine may not run the latest and greatest apps... it's definitely
getting really good for running those simple apps under linux which will
help you migrate more easily... I no longer have to boot into windows
everytime someone mails me a word/excel or RTF file .. The MS Word/Excel
viewers work under wine ... and they are available for free download.
