wow! you are the first person I've heard who says mysql is tough... though I have never installed oracle ... I have seen enough and more posts floating around on this list about problems in installing oracle! MySQL is so much simpler.. in case it didn't get installed along with the distro... all you have to do is download the right rpms from their site and ... rpm -Uvh mysql-* And go through the manual page (one huge html page)... just skim through reading the headings that you feel are necessary ... and you are on your way. (actually you only need to do a couple of things to get started .. but you are better off reading it yourself than have me spoon feed you! ;-) If you were to choose between oracle and an open alternative ..
