You wouldn't believe the speed increase with a well tuned sendmail install.
Besides, 8.12.x does pipelining ... which qmail / postfix / exim have also
been doing. Speeds things up, sort of.

Like for example, every other minute :) Currently we have sendmail patched
with mysql, to lookup users from a mysql map. Using sendmail's multiple map
feature with a berkeley db / btree (or ideally cdb, happen I can get the
currently available - 8.9.3 vintage - patch for cdb support ported to a new
version, and working ok with our mysql patches)
