I did cp -a /home/spavri/ /mnt/cdrom/spavri/

but none of my hidden files or hidden directories were copied over. I then
did 

tar -cjvf backup.tar.bz2 *

but still the same problem, none of my hidden files or directories are
being copied. Now what ? I remember using tar to backup and restore my
/home but it doesn't see to work now. Why ?
