what is there in your /etc/resolve.conf after pppd starts?
and also change your modem's speed
also your wvdial.conf does not have default section.

do one thing if you like, go to gnome and configure your
dial up connect again, it will create new wvdial.conf
(you can also do it with wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf command
from console)

it will set you modem parameters , change your modem speed there.
next go to /etc/ppp/options and add a line usepeerdns
this line will auto. configure your dns .
you can check it -- after pppd starts, check your /etc/resolve.conf
if you dont find any thing in /etc/resolve.conf then check
/etc/ppp/resolve.conf. if you find any value in /etc/ppp/resolve.conf
do cat /etc/ppp/resolve.conf > /etc/resolve.conf .
and try to surf the site again.

this should work.

in my redhat box, even if i set option in ppp to usepeerdns, it
does not edit /etc/resolv.conf. I have to manually do it. however
it edits /etc/ppp/resolv.conf everytime.
