dear Yash sir,

i tried something like this..

[root@comp1 root]# adduser rkcity$ -d /dev/null
[root@comp1 root]# smbpasswd -a -m rkcity$
Added user rkcity$.
[root@comp1 root]# smbadduser root
ERROR: Must use unixid:ntid like -> zak:zakharoffm
[root@comp1 root]# smbpasswd root
New SMB password:
Retype new SMB password:
Failed to find entry for user root.
Failed to modify password entry for user root
[root@comp1 root]#

where rkcity was the user which i use in the other comps. i deleted the user
and added him again as u suggested me, after that i added him to
smbpasswd...which dint ask me for any passwd...then i tried to add root which
gave me the above entries..

now my problem is...i have win98 machines which use rkcity to do domain
logons... so in that case what will be their passwd when they use rkcity as
user ? beside this do i need to do anything else? do i need to individually add
the computers ? like i have comp1, comp2 ? or the user in the comp as rkcity,
which is common to all the computers ?

my smbpasswd file looks like

[root@comp1 root]# cat /etc/samba/smbpasswd
rkcity$:500:D5F19C6445236FD4AAD3B435B51404EE:EC8F0579D525BD74E1DC81663BF2D176:[W
         ]:LCT-3C1A6AF4:

my ips are

192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0
      up to
192.168.0.10/255.255.255.0

when i use tcpdump it gives me like where i m doing ssh from the win2k machin
to linux box...

[root@comp1 root]# tcpdump
tcpdump: listening on eth0
03:02:02.012744 comp1.CYBERTECH.ssh > comp3.CYBERTECH.1057: P

1 win 8576 (DF) [tos 0x10]

please guide me more,
thanks in advance,

rk
