Here are mine log messages of pppd.

Apr  9 23:30:04 localhost pppd[1116]: pppd 2.4.0 started by root, uid 0
Apr  9 23:31:30 localhost pppd[1116]: Terminating on signal 15.
Apr  9 23:31:30 localhost pppd[1116]: Exit.
Apr  9 23:32:36 localhost pppd[1139]: pppd 2.4.0 started by root, uid 0
Apr  9 23:33:30 localhost pppd[1139]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Apr  9 23:33:30 localhost pppd[1139]: Exit.

In minicom also I am getting connected and it hangs on no promt.

I have statement 'Usepeerdns' in /etc/ppp/options file.
MY dial number is correct. I am getting smooth connetion in windows
with same number , username and password.

Still I am not getting prompt.
Any further clue please.

BTW - What is "inetd" ? Is this process is required to run in backgroud.
             I do not find any such process running in background or
forground.

             If required how to install it. Please give details of
installation or link.
