No No. I was not talking about global settings directory. 

When we right click on any file in ROX it shows the MIME type of that file.
In case of .pps file it shows it as text/plain however for .ppt files it
shows it application/vnd.ms-powerpoint. I wanted to know how to make rox
realise that .pps are not text/plain files. It I right click and 'Set Run
action' to open it in OpenOffice than all text files will be opened in
OpenOffice :-)

Is that something to do with /etc/mime.types file. If .pps mime type is not
found there than ROX takes it by default as text/plain file ??
