Hai,

I'm using ctrl+alt+del for shutdown. Similarly, I wanted to
have a uniq. key-combination for aborting a shutdown, hence
I added the statement to inittab:

kb::kbrequest:/sbin/shutdown -c

I did a dummy run by pressing the Alt+Up arrow key combi.
and fine, it works, i.e., it tries to find the shutdown
pid and fails. But when I tried to abort a real shutdown in
progress, it shows absolutely no response. Why?

I notice that one of the first services stopped in run
level 0 was 'Stopping keytable' - does it have a bearing on
my problem?

Then I tried removing this service from rl-0 to watch the
effect - but still no solution to my problem. By the way,
does the removal of this service from rl-0 have any other
'side-affects'?

I use RH7.1.

Cordially,

Ajay Shankar
