IIRC, 2.2.17 was not released with any of the default releases
but had to be installed as an upgrade. The approx versions for
following distros are:
a) Slackware 7.1 ..... 2.2.16
b) Debian potato (2.2r2) ..... 2.2.14
c) RH 6.2 ..... 2.2.14
Don't know about the rest
