I think you mean you can install any ttf font. No program understands that it's 
matathi unless it's a unicode font and I believe not may of them are out there. 
Otherwise it's just another tff font..

In my experience large amount of marathi fonts work well with linux albeit 
display may noy be very good. Good chances are that you will see what a bad 
font stands for..
