AFAIK, RECORD is a X server extension, to enable automated testing
of gui applications , among other things. I've never used it, but
_these_kind_of_things_ work well, if your windows always have the
same title, and are positioned at same window coordinates. ( easy
thing to do in X, start with +geom+.... )

You'll need to download and recompile the XF86 server. before
downloading, ples check if RECORD extension is at all available for
XF86. It's available on Solaris's OpenView at least ...

Maybe you are right, but a 'GUI script' would give more
uniform and flexible control.
About remote-control apps, could you explain a bit more
what they really are. Never came across one.

Prabably. Google searches led me nowhere regarding this.
Someone from alt.os.linux asked me to have a look at
http://xnee.sourceforge.net
Went there and downloaded xnee. Presently, I am trying
to run the app to understand what it really does, but I
am getting the error:
---------------------------------
Xlib: extension "RECORD" missing on display ":0.0".
Record extension missing
----------------------------------
Can you, or anyone, tell me what more should be done?
