Hi I am trying to back up some stuff off an HP-UX 10.20 box. HP username is backup and linux username is shridhar.
First problem is despite of .rhosts file on HP-UX machine, I have to supply username at linux machine to get a remote shell without password. The .rhosts file reads perth shridhar backup Removing last local username backup does not make any difference. Secondly when I run rsync, I get an error that rsync not found. It goes like.. ---------------- [shridhar@perth tmp]$ rsync -av -e "rsh -lbackup" narda:/home/backup . sh: rsync: not found. rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(151) [shridhar@perth tmp]$ ---------------- My guess is it's expecting rsync to be present on HP-UX machine. Now I am puzzled as in what's exactly happening..I thought rsync can take care of itself. HP-UX machine does not have rsync.. Right now I am using wget to mirror trees but I would like it to be as efficient as possible.. I am searching on this but if somebody has a tip to make this thing work, please, let me know..
