Hi,

I have installed Mdk 8.2 on my office m/c dual booting
with Windows Nt Server 4. I want to start using Linux
for all my office work. But since everything in my
office is MS based, I am having slight trouble in
that.

Following are the requirements for the same. Someone
please help:

(1.) I administer MS-SQL Server 7 database for that I
need query analyzer (at least) to do queries. I have
developed an application in Java using ODBC to connect
to MS-SQL server 7. The application is nothing but an
equivalent of Query Analyzer of SQL. Now I want to run
this application in Linux. For that I would need ODBC
drivers of SQL Server 7.0 Any pointers please.

(2.) Internet access is through MS-Proxy and I have
station restrictions also as net access is not for
everybody because of limited resources. Some sites are
also on company intranet. Proxy authentication is not
required for these sites, but for internet sites it is
required. My problem is - how do i log on to my NT
domain using my NT domain login and since my domain
login has station restrictions the name of the machine
should be shown to PDC as my office machine name. At
present my host name for linux is ajitabh.mdk.com. My
NT machine name is ajitabh_etb_sda and my domain login
is ajitabhp.

(3.) Our e-mail server is MS-Exchange 5.0 and we
access mail through Outlook 2000. I asked my System
Administrator about this and he told me that Exchange
is does not follow POP or IMAP protocol but follows a
different protocol called MAPI(Messaging API). How do
I connect to my Exchange server and download my mail
to access. Though we have a web access to the exchange
server but that is quite slow and I will not be able
to download my mails also.

(4.) MS Word and MS-Excel are also required. Though I
can read MS-Word files in Linux(I don't know for
Excel) but is there something which can save files in
these formats.

Regards.
Ajitabh Pandey
