Hello, looking at security updates Raju is posting here frequently, it will
be interesting to know, whether Linux world has more security holes and/or
relevent update patches OR M$ compete in this segment too!

Is there any comparative study on net sources, showing %-wise table of
security holes/update patches between diff OSs like Linux, Solaris, M$, Unix
etc ? Preferably, area-wise i.e. kernel level, application level, network
levels etc. !

Hey there,

We have not reached a level of absolute security anywhere. This is simply
because there is no real limit to the human mind. No matter how many rules
there are, there are always loopholes and somebody manages to take advantage
of them. I think it is inevitable that both linux and MS-driven OSs will
have security holes.

Herein is one of the biggest advantages in the open-source ideology. Hackers
(and even some crackers) have come together, found security holes and
patched them immediately. Every time a new hole is discovered it is patched
as soon as possible.
