My sister is in BITS (in a regular course - BTech CS, final year). She says
that yes the course is pretty well recognized in the job market, and very
good standard.
For AICTE approval of that course, govt job eligiblity etc you could contact
the BITS people directly (the DLPD - distance learning program director - is
the person you have to contact).

Whatever for? You'll get far better jobs outside the government.
